Sapere Acquires Glober & Preer LLP, Expanding Into Edson, Alberta

Some firm news we are proud to share: in January 2026, Sapere acquired Glober & Preer LLP, an established CPA firm in Edson, Alberta. The Glober & Preer team, office, and client relationships continue uninterrupted, now operating as part of Sapere.

Why Glober & Preer

Glober & Preer has served Edson and the surrounding communities for decades. In a small Alberta town, an accounting firm earns trust one year at a time, one filing at a time. The kind of trust Glober & Preer built is not something you buy and rebuild. It is something you inherit carefully and protect.

That was the frame going into this acquisition. We did not want to change what Glober & Preer clients rely on. We wanted to strengthen it: the same familiar office, the same team relationships, now backed by Sapere's broader bench across tax, bookkeeping, payroll, advisory, and cross-border accounting.

What this means for Glober & Preer clients

The Edson office at 4902 2 Ave stays open. The team you worked with last year is the team you will work with this year. The rebrand from Glober & Preer to Sapere is a name change on the door and the invoices, not a change in who handles your file.

Where clients will notice a difference:

  • 01Deeper service catalogue. Complex tax planning, cross-border tax work, US filings, business incorporation, and advisory services that previously required a referral out are now available under one roof.
  • 02More responsive support during peak season. Sapere's Mississauga and Calgary offices provide overflow capacity during personal and corporate tax deadlines.
  • 03Cloud accounting migration path. For clients still on desktop bookkeeping, we can support a phased move to Cloud Accounting on QuickBooks Online or Sage at your own pace.

The legacy phone line (780) 723-6079 continues to work. Email addresses transition to the sapere.ca domain over the coming months, with old addresses forwarding indefinitely. Full details on the Edson office page.

What this means for Sapere

Before this acquisition, Sapere had offices in Mississauga office (head office, Ontario) and Calgary office (Alberta). Adding Edson gives us three offices across two provinces and a physical presence stretching from the GTA into central and northern Alberta.

For Alberta business owners more broadly, this brings a full-service CPA firm closer to a market that has historically been under-served relative to Calgary and Edmonton. From Edson to Calgary and everywhere in between, Sapere clients now have local pickup and drop-off options and a team that understands the specifics of doing business in smaller Alberta communities.

About the acquisition

Firm acquisitions in accounting are common but rarely well-executed. The typical pattern is: acquire, rebrand aggressively, drive out the legacy staff, watch the client book erode over 18 to 24 months. That is not the pattern we are following.

Our approach:

  • 01No forced staff turnover. The Glober & Preer team stays.
  • 02Hours and cadence preserved. Clients used to Glober & Preer's schedule (Monday to Thursday, 8:30 to 4:30) see no change.
  • 03Gradual name transition. The door, the invoices, and the regulator record all reflect Sapere, but the human relationships are the same.
  • 04Regulator continuity. Sapere is registered with CPA Alberta as Sapere LLP, Chartered Professional Accountants, with full assurance scope (audit, review, compilation, tax services, accounting services).

What's next

We are actively expanding the service mix available to Edson clients over the coming months. This includes:

  • 01Cross-border tax work for clients with US property or business exposure
  • 02Sapere Advisory services (mergers, acquisitions, capital advisory) for owners considering exits or growth transactions
  • 03Cloud accounting setup and migration for firms still on legacy desktop software

If you are a Glober & Preer client, nothing about your engagement changes without a direct conversation with your existing accountant. If you are an Alberta business owner outside the current client base and are curious what a full-service Sapere engagement looks like, our door is open. Book a free consultation to talk through the specifics.

FAQ

Common questions.

Is the Edson office still open, and is it in the same location?
Yes. The Edson office at 4902 2 Ave continues to operate at its existing location with the same team. The only visible change is the name on the door, which now reads Sapere.
Do Glober & Preer clients need to switch accountants or sign new engagement letters?
No forced switch. The same accountant who handled your file last year continues to handle it. Engagement letters transition to the Sapere name at renewal, with the scope, fee, and service commitments unchanged unless discussed with you directly.
Does the phone number change?
The legacy Glober & Preer phone line (780) 723-6079 remains active for Edson clients. The org-level Sapere line (+1-647-545-3839) also reaches the Edson team. Email addresses transition to the sapere.ca domain over the coming months with old addresses forwarding indefinitely.
Will fees change now that Sapere has acquired the firm?
No blanket fee change tied to the acquisition. Existing retainers stay in place. Annual fee reviews happen the same way they always have, based on scope, complexity, and time. If your scope expands into a service Glober & Preer did not offer previously (cross-border, US tax, advisory), that is quoted separately and only proceeds with your written agreement.
